Davies Named in Canada World Cup Squad

Canada have named their 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup, and Alphonso Davies has made the cut despite a recent injury scare.

The 22-year-old sustained a recent hamstring injury playing for Bayern Munich and has missed the last two games for the German club.

“A kid born in a refugee camp wasn’t supposed to make it! But here we are going to the World Cup,” Davies wrote on Twitter.

“Don’t let no one tell you that your dreams are unrealistic.”

John Herdman’s team are in Group F and will face Belgium, Morocco and Croatia at the tournament in Qatar. Canada will kick off against Belgium on 23 November.
