Toronto FC Midfielder Osorio to Miss Canada Games

Toronto FC’s Jonathan Osorio will not be joining up with the Canada squad in Vancouver this week after picking up an injury with his club.

The 29-year-old midfielder was substituted off in the 13th minute of Toronto’s 3-2 win over Chicago on Saturday.

Coach Bob Bradley said Osorio had “lower body discomfort” after the MLS match.

“There’s been something that’s been sort of lingering that they’ve not put their finger on specifically,” said Bradley. “And we’ll see what it means now in this next period. Obviously it’s an international break, but we have to get to the bottom of what it is. Because he’ll feel OK and then a little something doesn’t seem right.”

Osorio is a member of John Herdman’s leadership group with the Canadian team and the injury will mean he will now miss two CONCACAF Nations League games.

Canada will host Curacao in Vancouver on June 9 and then play in Honduras on July 13.

Canada is currently searching for a replacement opponent after this Sunday’s game against Iran was cancelled.

Osorio has made 55 appearances for Canada, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists.
